One of my favorite things to photograph are flowers! The lines and the shapes of flowers are easy to bring to life. This is becasue the eye is naturally drawn to them. Making it relaxing, and easy to produce a beautiful picture. I love working with the natural and pure colors, come winter the colors and the variety will slowly disapear. Left with colder and sharper veiws of grey trees and cloudy skies, which are also beautiful but bring a challenge of finding beauty within a photograph.
Black & White
There are many reasons to embrace black and white photography. Possibilities are abundant once a black and white shot is taken. What strikes me the most is the raw beauty that appears so boldy and so simply in a black and white photograph. Whether its abstract, scenery, animals or people black and white can turn an ordinary photo into something eye catching and beuatiful.
Abstract
Find something ugly and make it beautiful. Abstract photography is fun. It opens a creativity known only to oneself. It reminds us of the little joys in life that are often overlooked. With Thanksgiving coming up, abstract photography can be a reminder of the leaves crunching under each step or the smell of turkey and rolls as you walk in the door. Abstract photography is a constant reminder to stop and smell the roses . . .and then look closer . . . and then, again look closer.
Human Intrest
Human Intrest is exactly what it says. We are interested in people. What they do, how they look and why. I love trying to capture each of these aspects. In each photograph you can capture a personality and an emotion. From one picture to the next both of these can change. This provides a challenge, a challenge like many when met, not only satisfies me but those whom I photograph. As I photograph people I am able to get to know each one and bring what I know about them through the lens.
Scenery
Scenery, I beleive, is one of the hardest things to photograph. Too many times I take a picture and the beauty I see through my eyes doesn't transefer through the lens. It is important to capture the most striking part that your eye finds. The next step is to force people to see the same spot as you see. What I like about scenery is natural. It gives a "sitting on the front porch" feeling and it can bring peace and serenity into a home. It can also encourage hope and dreams beyond words.
Action
The trick with action shots is to think of where your subject will be. Once the timing is correct, amazing pictures can be caught. The great thing about actions shots is it converts everything into slow motion. The small things that your eye would have missed are captured in a photograph. Saving moments of fear, surprise, adrenaline and curiosity for years to come.
